The ground-up rebuild of a 1960 Series 2 Australian farm vehicle.
"Never confuse durability with reliability" is a saying entirely fitted to British vehicles and engines. For nearly three decades the "series" Land Rovers were the mainstay of Australian farming and mining, but during the 1970s they were largely phased out of daily service in favour of the eminently more reliable Toyota Landcruiser. Land Rovers still sit around in paddocks, and some of the luckier ones, in farm sheds, as reminders of the first real wave of four wheel drive vehicles into everyday use. Rebuilding one to its former glory seemed a worthwhile project, particularly one reflective of the Land Rover contribution to Australian farming.
